Naturebase is a leading-edge online platform that provides tools and resources to identify, analyse, and make informed decisions about implementing high-integrity nature-based projects with substantial carbon mitigation impact while also safeguarding biodiversity. Naturebase is a free tool developed by Nature4Climate and international partners with the purpose of accelerating the development of policy and natural climate solutions practices that benefit people and climate.

This webinar is for government and corporate policy makers, policy influencers, and strategy managers seeking ways to deliver positive climate, people, and biodiversity outcomes.  Naturebase provides a spatial planning tool, based on new scientific evidence, to identify emissions reduction potential through multiple natural climate solution pathways  (including forests, grasslands, croplands and wetlands)This webinar will showcase how this free tool can help those working in policy and strategy to deliver on their goals, covering:

  • The use of science and data to construct the naturebase tool, and how this may be used by those working in policy and strategy to determine nature based interventions
  • Using naturebase to instantly estimate the climate benefit for any country or sub-national area, based on 22 natural climate solutions land interventions
  • How to compare countries and areas with the greatest potential for carbon mitigation and ecological improvement, with the additional benefit of enhancing human wellbeing
  • How landowners and Indigenous peoples can identify the potential for natural climate solutions on their lands
  • How to screen areas for human rights considerations to inform sustainable policy, program design, and corporate commitments

Nearly all nations have made commitments to the Paris Climate Accord and Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, resulting in plans and policies to be put in place.  Equally, regional communities need to consider what they can do to deliver climate and biodiversity outcomes, utilizing the growing amount of private sector finance moving into this space.

Learn, through this webinar, how to identify what your country or region can achieve through natural climate solutions, identifying where to implement these solutions and what the climate benefit could be. There will be an opportunity for questions and discussion and we will welcome your views about how the platform can be developed in the future to help meet your future needs.
