Scaling IP&LC Access to Climate and Biodiversity Finance

This event will highlight the progress and lessons learned from IP&LC-led initiatives around access to Climate and Biodiversity finance. Speakers will share perspectives on what is needed to scale up support for these initiatives and their importance for achieving the Paris Agreement and the Global Biodiversity Framework goals.

The event will host a moderated panel to facilitate the exchange of experiences, challenges, and opportunities faced by Indigenous peoples and local communities in accessing climate and biodiversity finance.

The discussions will emphasize practical examples of direct finance mechanisms and sustainable outcomes for Indigenous peoples and local communities. Moreover, NGOs, governments, philanthropy, and bi/multilateral institutions will share insights on their transformational processes and expansion of direct access.

The discussion will also focus on a set of recommendations for new facilities and system changes needed to reimagine access to climate and biodiversity finance for Indigenous peoples and local communities, along with a timeline for this transformation.
